How to get there?
Car
Brussels to Trevinano is approximately 800 miles; from Amsterdam it is approximately 900 miles. That equals about 13 to 15 hours' travelling time. That can be done in one day, or two if you prefer to travel more slowly.
From Belgium, the quickest route is through Luxembourg, France, Germany, Switzerland and finally Italy.
From the Netherlands, there are two possible routes, depending on your point of departure. Either through Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany and Switzerland, or alternatively through Germany and Switzerland.
Car train
In the summer, there are scheduled car trains from Düsseldorf to Milan and Bologna. As these trains tend to fill up quickly, you should book them well in advance. From Milan, it is another five hours´ drive. From Bologna another three hours.
There are direct through train connections from Brussels and Utrecht to Milan. At Milan change trains to Florence, then change trains to Rome. Get off the train at Chiusi or Orvieto, from where it is another half hour's drive.
Flying
Nowadays, there are very cheap flights from Schiphol Airport to Pisa using Transavia, Basiqair or Easyjet. KLM and Alitalia also offer flights to Florence and Rome, but are more expensive. Virgin Express also flies from Amsterdam to Rome.
From the Niederrhein airport in Germany, close to Nijmegen, V-bird offers cheap flights to Rome.
Virgin Express offers cheap flights from Brussels to Rome. Alitalia flights from Brussels to Rome or Florence are cheaper than from Amsterdam.
From Rome or Florence airport, it is about 160 KM drive to Podere Tina, or a 90-minute train journey (closest train stations are Chiusi and Orvieto).
